NetAsset - Schedule Generation Global Settings
Overview
NetAsset has introduced significant performance and usability updates for generating and updating schedule lines on assets. These enhancements have improved schedule generation times by 8-10 times, streamlining processes for users. Additionally, three new settings have been added to the Global Setup to provide greater control over schedule generation behaviors.
Step-by-Step Process
1. Configuring the New Global Settings
Navigate to NetAsset > Asset Setup > System Setup to access the new global settings. You will see three new checkboxes:
1. Generate Schedule on Asset Creation
- If checked, the system automatically generates the depreciation schedule upon saving a new asset record.
- This eliminates the need to manually click the Generate Schedule button.
2. Regenerate Schedule on Asset Save
- If checked, the system regenerates the schedule automatically when changes are made to an asset that impacts the depreciation schedule.
- Example: Adjusting the useful life or acquisition date will trigger automatic schedule regeneration upon saving.
3. Trigger User Event Scripts on Schedule Generation (Slow Method)
- When checked, this reverts to the previous, slower method of creating schedule lines.
- Important: Checking this box automatically unchecks the first two settings.
- Use Case: This setting is only required for highly customized environments with user event scripts or workflows running on schedule lines.
Limitations/Things to Be Aware Of
Trigger User Event Scripts on Schedule Generation (Slow Method):
- Use this setting only if necessary when you have a custom workflow or user event scripted deployed on the schedule line record.
- It reverts to the old method of generating schedules and will result it much slower overall generation time and is not recommended for most clients.
If the Generate Schedule on Asset Creation and Regenerate Schedule on Asset Save settings are unchecked, schedule generation will still follow the new, faster method of generating schedule lines but schedule generation will still need to be manually triggered by clicking the "Generate Schedule" button.
The first two settings only apply when working with a single asset record. If schedules are generated in mass they will always use the new method of generating schedule lines, unless the slower method is selected.
