NetAsset - NetScan Bulk Generate Codes
Use Case: NetScan is intended to allow users to generate QR Codes that will link to specific Assets within the NetAsset module. This article will walkthrough the steps required to create a NetScan code and generate the URL links to a list of assets. For information regarding the initial NetScan configuration and installation, see the NetScan Setup article.
Creating an NetScan Code
- NetScan code creation will be accessible by entering "NetScan Code" in the search bar.
- The NetScan Code List is where QR codes will be created and applied to assets.
- To create a new code, select New NetScan Code at the top of the page
Enter the required field information and select Save to create the new NetScan Code Record. See below for descriptions for each field.

| Owner | The creator of the NetScan Code record |
| Deploy to Record | Required field used to select the Record or Transaction Type that this code is related to |
| Saved Search | The search filtering what records this Netscan code will be deployed to |
| Event Types | This field is used to select the context in which a button to generate the code will display on the record. |
| Code File Format | This is used to determine the file format the code will export to |
| Show Label | Check this box to show a label below the code. For custom records, the label will default to {name} + {altname}. For transactions, the label will default to {recordtype} + {documentnumber} + {entity}. For items the label will default to {itemid}. To use a custom label, add a field to the saved search with a column name of "Label" and that field's value will be used as the label beneath the generated code. |
| URL | The URL the scan code will generate a code for. If left blank, the code generated will point to the URL of the record the NetScan code is deployed to. |
Bulk Generating NetScan Codes
Once the form is completed, the option to Bulk Generate Codes will be available. Selecting this option will allow for the creation of codes for all the transactions the NetScan Code is applied to.
Once the Bulk Code Generation button is selected, the user will be redirected to the Generate Code screen. The Generate Code screen will allow the user to select the records or transaction type that a code should be generated. Codes generated in bulk will be grouped together in the PDF export. These can be scanned and the URL will redirect to the specific asset record.
Individual NetScan Code Generation
If the View option is selected in the "Event Types" field, the option to generate a code will be available on the record the NetScan code is applied to. See below:
An individual code can be generated directly from the asset record using this functionality.
