NetClose - Auto-Generate Tasks
Overview
In NetClose, users have the option to automatically generate tasks on a scheduled basis. The settings to automatically generate a task can be found on each NetClose Task record. If there is a specific time that a user wants tasks generated, then they should create a new deployment of the NetClose | Task - Auto Generate | MR script and schedule it at the time they would like it to run. The time zone for the schedule will be based on the time zone of the user that set the scheduled script.

Step-by-step process
Update via CSV Import
To set many or all tasks to auto-generate, update the required fields via CSV Import. The only required fields in your file are Task Internal ID and the auto-generation fields. On Import Options, select Update instead of Add.
- To manually update the auto-generation fields on a task, navigate to the task template record via NetClose > Lists > Tasks.
- Filter the list to Close Task Templates Only and select Edit on the task template.
- Populate an Auto Generation Day. This tells NetClose what day of the month the task should be automatically generated on.
- Populate the Auto Generation Preferred Period. This tells NetClose what period this task should be associated with when it is automatically generated. See below for examples.
If left blank, the system defaults to Next Period.
5. Save the task.
Set new tasks to auto-generate automatically
If you'd like all new tasks to be assigned a certain auto-generation day and auto-generation period automatically, navigate to NetClose > Setup > System Setup > System Features and populate the following fields:

Example 1: Assume this example relates to calendar year-end.
MOST COMMONLY USED EXAMPLE
- Frequency: Monthly
- Auto Generation Day: -1
- Auto Generation Preferred Period: Current
- Preparer Due Date (Relative): 5
- December tasks will be generated on Dec. 31st with a due date that is 5 business days after Dec. 31st.
Example 2: Assume this example relates to calendar year-end.
- Frequency: Monthly
- Auto Generation Day: 1
- Auto Generation Preferred Period: Current
- Preparer Due Date (Relative): 5
- January tasks will be generated on Jan. 1st with a due date that is 5 business days from Jan. 31st.
Example 3: Assume this example relates to calendar year-end.

- Auto Generation Preferred Period: Next
- Preparer Due Date (Relative): 5
- January tasks will be generated on Dec. 31st with a due date that is 5 business days from Jan. 31st.

- Q2 tasks will be generated on July 1st (these will appear under your July period on your Task list/board) with a due date that is 5 business days from July 31st.
Example 6: Assume this example relates to calendar year-end.
- Frequency: Weekly
- Weekday Due: Monday
- Auto Generation Day: -1
- Auto Generation Preferred Period: Next
- Four Weekly January tasks (four Mondays in January) will be generated on Dec. 31st (these will appear under your January period on your Task list/board) with a due date for each Monday in the period.
