NetClose - Amortization Reports
Overview
NetClose offers two amortization reports designed to provide accurate data and clear insights: the Amortization Roll Forward report and the Amortization Waterfall report.
Step-by-Step Process
Both reports can be accessed via NetClose > Reports.
- The Amortization Roll Forward report shows the initial balance, additions, amortizations, adjustments, and ending balance for each amortization and is organized by amortization type. This report can show posted activity or expected activity.
- The Amortization Waterfall report shows amortization activity by period and is organized by amortization type. This report can be viewed by month or by fiscal year and may be useful for forecasting.
If desired, additional detail from the amortization record can be added as columns for more context. This can be done using the preferences icon in the top right of each report next to the export button.
Filters
Both reports share the same filters. The filters available depend on your account configuration:
- From, To, and Period - the date range and accounting period for the report.
- Amortization Type - limit the report to selected amortization types.
- Subsidiary and Consolidated Subsidiary - shown when OneWorld is enabled. Use Consolidated Subsidiary to roll results up to a parent subsidiary.
- Accounting Book - shown when Multi-Book Accounting is enabled. Limits the report to amortizations assigned to the selected book.
- Vendor, Department, Class, and Location - filter by segment.
Currency and consolidated display
When Multi-Book Accounting is enabled, report amounts (Additions, Amortizations, Adjustments, Initial Balance, and Ending Balance on the Roll Forward; period activity on the Waterfall) display in each row's accounting book base currency rather than the amortization's own currency. The currency symbol shown on each row matches that book's base currency.
Consolidated and book-specific amounts
When you apply a Consolidated Subsidiary filter, amounts convert to the parent subsidiary using the consolidated exchange rate and rows display the consolidated currency symbol. A book-specific amortization - one that posts only to a secondary book - displays in that book's currency using that book's consolidated rate, so the value ties back to the corresponding NetSuite report. A book-specific amortization on a book that is not set to consolidate is excluded from the consolidated report.
For how NetClose resolves these rates, see NetClose - Amortization Exchange Rate Handling.
