NetAsset - Transition From Sandbox to Production

Migration Summary 

This guide goes through the basic process of exporting the asset data from the sandbox account so it can be imported to the production account. This process should be done after the assets in the sandbox account are finalized.

Any settings and customization in the sandbox account will need to be duplicated in the production site. 

Export from Sandbox

Step By Step Process:

• Type in NetAsset Import Template (Update) into the global search. This view will list the default asset information that needs to be imported to the production site and can be exported from this page as a CSV or Excel to assist with data migration. If fields are desired that are not present in the default view, these can be added by selecting the Edit this Search button and selecting them on the Results tab. Once all applicable import asset fields are selected, this file will list all the asset information that needs to be imported to the production site.

• Navigate to NetAsset > NetAsset Setup > Manage Asset Types & Mapping. Download and save the list as a csv file.  This file will list all the asset type information that needs to be added to the production site. View full size

Import to Production

Step By Step Process:

• Switch to the production account.
• Navigate to NetAsset > NetAsset Setup > Manage Asset Types & Mapping. Manually add in the NetAsset Types using the asset type csv file downloaded previously as a guide. Please see our article on Asset Type Configuration for more details on how to add a asset type.
• Navigate to Setup > Import/Export > Import CSV Records. The asset records will be uploaded through this import process.
• For the NetAsset Asset template upload you will be uploading the NetAsset Import Template (Update). You can do this by going to NetAsset Data Upload article and start reading at "Start reading here when coming from the article Transition from Sandbox to Production".
• Once the upload is complete, generate schedules for the assets and verify the information uploaded is correct and matches sandbox.

Transfer Customization to Production

Step By Step Process:

• There are common aspects of customization that you should check for transferring over to the Production account
  • NetAsset Global Settings enabling the features that you utilized in the Sandbox Account
  • NetAsset User Role & Permission Setup copying all your roles and permissions over into Production
  • NetAsset Form Design Preferences any customization to the Asset Record should be transferred
  • NetAsset Customized Reports any customizations to reports
  • NetAsset Custom Sourcing any custom sourcing should be transferred over
  • Any add-on features, Alternate Schedules, Tax Engine, etc.
