NetClose - Requiring Explanations for Late Submissions
Overview
NetClose includes a setting that prevents users from submitting a Task, Reconciliation, or Flux Analysis record marked as overdue unless an explanation is provided. The walkthrough below outlines how this functionality works.

Step-by-Step Process
- Navigate to NetClose > Setup > System Setup.
- Under the General subtab within the Preferences section, the Enforce Overdue Reason setting can be enabled to require an overdue explanation before submission of any overdue record. This setting can be applied individually to the following records or to any combination of them:
- NetClose Flux
- NetClose Reconciliation
- NetClose Task
- After selecting the desired records, click Save to apply the updated settings:
The remainder of this article demonstrates how this setting functions using the NetClose Task record as an example. Note that a similar process applies to NetClose Flux and NetClose Reconciliation records.
- Navigate to NetClose > Tasks > Task List.
- On the Task List, an Overdue badge will now appear for each overdue task in place of the Submitted or Complete icon:
- When an overdue task is opened, selecting Submit or Complete prompts a required entry in the Overdue Explanation field. This field is intended to document the reason for the task’s late completion:
- An optional Overdue Reason dropdown is available to streamline this process. Selecting a reason from this list will automatically populate the Overdue Explanation field. Use of the dropdown is not mandatory.
The list of Overdue Reasons can be maintained by navigating to NetClose > Setup > Overdue Reasons. Users can add, edit, or deactivate entries from this screen.
- Once the Overdue Explanation field is populated, the task can be submitted or marked complete:
- The task will then appear as Complete on the Task List rather than Overdue:
